What made you get into accounting?
For me, accounting is like solving a puzzle where every piece tells a story about a business's health. I was drawn to the problem-solving aspect and how modern cloud technology makes bookkeeping so much more efficient. Managing the day-to-day details—like payroll and GST/HST—allows me to directly support passionate entrepreneurs. There's nothing better than giving owners their time back so they can focus on what they do best.
What do you do to recharge outside of work?
To recharge outside of work, I love diving into different forms of storytelling and hands-on creativity. You'll often find me deep in a fictional book, binge-watching a great TV series, or completing a story-rich game. When I need a screen break, I focus on crafting. Whether it's crocheting, sculpting with clay, or experimenting with 3D printing, creating things from scratch is my favorite way to unwind.
If you weren't in accounting — what would you be doing?
If I wasn't an accountant, I'd be an engineer—which was actually my second career choice! Instead of sitting at a desk wrangling numbers, I'd want a role doing hands-on fieldwork outside. I love figuring out how things work, whether I'm 3D printing or sculpting clay. Engineering would be the absolute perfect excuse to trade my computer screen for the outdoors and build things from the ground up!
